Obtuse Meaning

This picture represents a variety of first time experiences for me. It is from my trip to Ireland in 2011 and brings back so many memories for me. This trip was a lot of firsts for me, the first time I had been on an airplane, the first time I went out of the country and the first time I saw a castle among many more. Whenever I see anything that is associated with Ireland it immediately brings me back to the two separate weeks I spent in this amazing country. Cold and rainy days which we have a plethora of in Georgia also bring me back to my time in Ireland because that is basically the weather there all day everyday. I really enjoyed my time there and miss it a lot, hopefully I will be able to go back and visit very soon.

"Media"

Media- how we get our news and information today. It can broken up into two groups: old (books, radio, newspaper, television) and new (cell phones, social media, apps etc.) For me personally I don't get my news form the newspaper or in most cases from the TV. I get it from my phone. These images make me think of the word reliance, how we are relying on new media as opposed to old media and how it has drastically evolved over time. Newspapers are going out of business due to low circulation, people hardly pick up a book anymore and everything we need or want to know can be accessed with a push of a button.

Term Extensionn

“Communication”

Communication or “the act of communicating” can be simply defined as exchanging news and information from person to person. Anything form a head nod or handshake to an email falls under communicating. A simple process but complicated method due to the rapid growth and introduction of technology. They we communicate has evolved from 150 years ago to last year. Communicating is essential to everyone’s daily life and without it there would sure be chaos, but the way we are communicating these days has totally revamped the term and brought a whole new meaning to the word “communicating”. Things like writing a letter, sending a post card, and even phone calls are on the verge of becoming “socially” obsolete. With the invention of the cell phone, internet and now social media it is now more prominent to send a tweet or text rather than make an actual phone call and in some instances even more effective or acceptable. We are in the age of the cell phone and it has drastically changed the way we as people look, study, and define the term communication.
